Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. Since her inception, she has been in every season of Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals on the show, with the most significant one being $350,000 for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second of 10 children from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk sometimes and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
